Hi Frank,
The dreaded quote from Richard Feynman. I remember you used it a few years ago and I thanked my lucky stars that it was not aimed at me - and now it is. Hard as it is to accept, I guess you are probably right. Over the years I have learned so much from NavList. All information offered readily and freely. I was a lurker for quite a while and this was followed up by a few posts. When Mark Knudsen asked if it was possible for longitude to be found by shadows and Dave Pike replied that in his opinion that it wasn't; I thought it might be an opportunity to make a contribution as I had done three sights for longitude that very week. How could I not post this? There are probably very few people in the world who do shadow sights for a hobby and certainly none on NavList. I offered up what I have learned on the subject in the hope that someone out there would actually give it a try and form their own conclusions one way or the other. You mentioned the fact that I had allowed for refraction. If I hadn't I bet you would have leapt on that fact too!
Regards to all,
John A Brown.
