    Sidereal Time App
    From: Sean C

    All,

I've been meaning to suggest an Android app I've had on my phone for some time now. Sidereal Clock has three customizable digital displays. Each one can display one of the following times: Local Standard, Local Mean Solar, Local Apparent Solar, Local Mean Sidereal, UTC, Greenwich Mean Sidereal or the current equation of time. There is a "hold" button at the bottom of the screen which freezes the display so that the time and hour angle of Aries can be read. The time is updated via NTP and seems to always match USNO clocks. Local times/hour angles are determined using longitude from GPS, network or user input (user selectable). There is also an "analogue" display which can be set to show either Local Mean Sidereal or Local Apparent Solar time. Pointers on the "face" help to visualize the position of the Sun or Aries with respect to one's meridian. A very handy app for celnav.

    Cheers,

    Sean C.
