The united States Power Squadron uses LOC as their current primary sight reduction methd and NASR as an additional method.  Of course that has changed over the years as 20 years ago it was the NASR primary and LOC secondary.  (Calculators being more powerfull today)  From way back when I picked up a copy of HO 229.  They are on a kick about electronics with heavy doses of electronic navigation techniques.  They have really dummied down their courses over the years.  Many of the techniques we were taught back then are not even mentioned today.  (I have retaken most of the course in the past year as refreshers and am less than impressed.)  I have been trying different methods and it is indeed somewhat addictive.  I look forward to trying on a few more.  Thanks everyone.  Yes, electronis are nice, but they can make you lazy and when they fail and they will, what do you do then?  Heck, I have an iphone app that does everything but take the sight.
