Does that help with TSD (other than the slight alteration to the north) ? ============================== Oops, adding a degree makes sense, but then the supposed meridian passage sight would not be exactly at LAN, But wait, that would partially explain the apparent northern alteration of course. IF the navigator thought he/she was doing a LAN sight at 9d 45.7 and he/she was at 10d 45.7, the sun would be too low by 1', so latitude by that sight would be 1' north of true position. Of course that may hose up the LAN to Egypt answer, but it makes more sense than 16+ kt and a course reversal.
