> Peter, > Are previous almanacs available online now? > Robert Gainer If you mean in the sense of complete old almanacs, there has been some discussion recently about this. I understand the museum at Mystic is one place that holds old copies that are accessible online (?) Almanac data for previous or future years is available. One source is Omar Reis's Online Nautical Almanac: http://www.tecepe.com.br/nav/almanac.html-ssi where data for years 1950 to 2050 can be generated. Frank Reed proposes: "A complete online Nautical Almanac covering the period 1750 to 2050. The positions of the Sun, Moon, navigational planets and stars are generated for every hour of the day at a high level of acuracy just as in the published almanacs." (Would be more convincing if 'accuracy' was more accurate ..) http://www.historicalatlas.com/lunars/ As far as I know, everyone uses the algorithms described by Jean Meeus. I seem to remember that at least one list contributor calculates data as needed directly, for virtually any date in the past or future.
