There is an large collection of RDF's with pictures and brief descriptions at http://www.angelfire.com/space/proto57/rdf.html, including the hand-held Vecta, which I used a lot before LORAN-C became affordable. Unfortunately it doesn't have my favorite: a B&G Heron (see http://www.easternyachts.com/capellaofkent/images/rdf1.jpg) that used a fixed-mount radio receiver cabled to a hand-held directional antenna with the supurb but heavy Sestral bearing compass.
