    Yeah, it’s got a bunch of neat stuff.  There’s a way to make a crude sextant to measure the solar elevation out of a special tape measure & also a star chart that you can use to find your approximate position (as long as you are under one of the stars shown).  None of it is terribly accurate, but it’s better than drifting aimlessly not knowing where the hell you are or where you are heading.

    I have Gatty's book.  Is the solargram analog the table that lets you calc Long. from sunset with corrections for Latitude?  I haven't read thru it thoroughly but did see that and thought it might be pretty cool in a pinch.
