Please can someone give me a link to a couple of papers I’ve mentioned on this forum before, but which I can no longer find. They’re both about shrinking the PZX triangle at the South Pole by using the Pole as the assumed position thus greatly simplifying the math. I’m pretty sure the author’s name was Higgs or something similar. Unfortunately, Googling Higgs only comes up with pages and pages of Higgs-Boson. The author gave a lecture to either the Royal Geographical or Astronomical Society around 1908-1910 attended by Amundsen, but not by Scott. He returned to the subject whilst fire-watching in WW2. He was able to analyse Bowers’/Scott’s sights at the Pole but not Amundsen’s, because Norway was still occupied. If anyone can provide a link to these papers, especially the later one, I would greatly appreciate it.
