I said: And Dube and Merak to the left above the Kennedy Space Centre. I believe the photographer was a few metres NW of the NW end of the bridge on Nasa Parkway E over the Banana River. The ‘What star is this’ looks a bit far away from the pointers and a bit too bright to be Polaris, so maybe it’s Alpheratz.
On reflection, the bright orange area to the left of the launch pad, above which lies Dube, is more likely complexes 39 A&B, you can see the towers, so maybe the "Which star is this" actually is Polaris with Kochab below it. If so, Ploaris is a lot brighter in the USA than in the UK. The approximate time would have been the time Alcor (6th star in the plough) rose, which was about 02.20UTC. Confidence level 50:50, I never was much good at star recognition. DaveP
