I've found a brass sextant whose box carries a
plate with "Stanley London 1902" engraved on it.
It is not in good condition, the scope support
seems to have been repaired by soldering and in fact the scope itself doesn't
aim perfectly to the horizon mirror.
I know that Stanley has been manufacturing
reproduction sextants, and the fact that the filters seem more colored glass
than serious ones makes me suspect mine is one of those repros; at the same time
the box seems quite old.
Can you help me to classify my
sextant?
Thanks.
