Ok so how about 3D printing in curved segments, or maybe two hemispheres. The stars and labels could be embossed and then filled with paint after assembly.
I think I could turn a list of stars and RA/DEC into a script for FreeCAD to put them in the right place.
The link is to one that is $750. I was thinking more like $30!
