    Re: Star identification puzzle

I mentioned that the size of this 'stick-figure' that I saw was about ten degrees. I should add that I actually measured it with my fist that night: "one fist" across. But to emphasize, when measured more carefully, the angular distance from the bright star at the head of the figure, at lower right, to the foot of the figure, towards upper left, is actually just about 9 degrees. That's important because a couple of you mentioned star patterns that are much too big for this ten degree window in the clouds. Also, in case I wasn't clear, the red lines that I have drawn in represent the pattern that my internal pattern-recognition software filled in --in my head. In other words, that's what I "saw", but this pattern is not directly connected with any real constellations or asterisms. Finally, "up is up" in this picture. That is, the lower edge of the image is parallel with the horizontal, and I'm looking towards the south about 35-55 degrees high, as previously described.
