Bill,
Your lengthy and thorough explaination answered my questions. You took a lot of time in answering and I thank you.
I've been using Stellarium over the years and found all of the stars you mentioned.
My wife an I were talking yesterday about the Celestial Meridian and figured, "look, if you can't find Aries as a reference point then just use a known star's celestial coordinates and figure the star in question's location relative to that.
So NOW I understand the Celestial Coordinate system.
