I don't know if your question is for advice to make the NA's star charts work or just a general sight planning question. Assuming the latter, I have not had good success with those charts. I like the old 2102-D star finder for preplanning sights including planets - I see many on eBay for reasonable prices. These days I mostly use Pub249v1 for sight planning.
