I'm no EE but in undergrad I did some surface EMG work and our Faraday cage was grounded. If the ground was interrupted we would get interference in the surface EMG.

Ideally, the surrounding Faraday cage is a perfect conductor. Thin aluminum foil might have sufficient electrical resistance to be an effective shield. I believe it is also better if the Faraday cage is externally grounded.
