Hi Frank, that's really interesting! So it doesn't use a model spheroid to represent the earth's surface? If it doesn't maintain a model does it calculate the stars position from your position by formula?
I've read the definition of parallax a couple of times but don't really understand it. Something to do with the angle between you and the centre of the earth right? So if you are higher then the angle will be larger and thats what it's correcting for? I'll go read again...
When you say calculator work do you just mean using a calculator with a nautical almanac in the usual fashion? The reason I ask is the tabulated data must come from somewhere... And there is a considerable difference in accuracy between the sight reduction tables and the full almanac... If you could calculate a result purely through formulas would it not be even more accurate?
