Hi, Stellarium is an interesting program - I like the option for displaying non-Western constellations - and I will certainly explore its other options. For free astronomical software I usually recommend Sky View Caf at http://www.skyviewcafe.com/ which has an amazing range of options and and features which are based on the algorithms in Jean Meeus, _Astronomical Algorithms_, 2nd ed. (Willmann-Bell, 1998).
