"Riddle of the Sands" is a great sailing saga and reputedly the first modern spy novel. The film is excellent; the book even better. Be sure to obtain a copy with the fold-out nautical chart.
One wonders what else Erskine Childers would have written if he hadn't been executed during the Irish Civil War in 1923.
There is no sign of a Master and Commander sequel on the horizon so onward to YouTube which delivered this classic gem Riddle of the Sands (1979) starring Michael York. Enjoy !

Anyone who missed the theater release of The Martian should keep an eye out for it on DVD.
