    Tom,

    I looked at these sights just now. You said in your post:
      "sextant sights from last year"
    but you gave the date as 21 june 2024 (two years ago). Quickly "testing" the scenario against Stellarium, it's clear that this was actually "last year" so the date should be
      21 june 2025
    Right? Otherwise the altitude of the Moon doesn't make any sense. This is actually a classic case where the non-repetitive nature of the Moon's motion works in our favor. In the past decade the only "21 june" that matches the approximate altitude and the relative azimuth as described is in 2025.
