    My method is a plane trig calculation of the distance between moon's centre and sun's lower limb. When this distance is less than the moon's semidiameter, the moon will cover the sun's limb. After some further changes in my code I get a result which differs a few seconds of time from my previous: 17h07m48s and 18h20m47s respectively. I have tried to take into account the flattening of the earth (WGS84) but am not certain that I always use the correct adjustments. Reading Chauvenet makes me perhaps more confused than before.
