Re: Sun sights during an eclipse: "bad limb" calculation

In further reference to the last posts just lately published by Frank , Geoff well done Geoff :-) and Lars I have "reworked" Lars' last numbers which are quite close from the others' ones.

For 17:07:56.0 the difference between Moon Center and Sun LL distance differs by less than 0.06' from Moon Augmented SD (Moon Augmented SD equal to 15.23')

For 18:20:48.0 this difference amounts to 0.05' (Moon augmented SD equal to15.24').

To the accuracy stated in my earlier contributions, I therefore agree to all results referenced here-above.

For the time being, apparently, all of the above Contributors did one way or the other use some brute force  "trial and error" method.

As I am not using any "modern" software - Stellarium and the like - I am left with just crunching numbers + paper sheet and pencil and I remain a bit frustrated at not having found one sufficiently reliable method - using correct and valid linear functions of time if any ...- to speed up the process of solving this problem.

    Any taker(s) here ?

Frank and all others, thanks for this drill.

    Kermit
