    According to "Bowditch, Pub. No. 9, The American Practical Navigator":
    
            sunrise,n The crossing of the visible horizon by the upper limb of
      rising sun.
    
    Y2K is a political thing created by a politically correct, technology
    dependent society ;^)
    
    The political day starts a midnight. The traditional navigators day
    starts at NOON.
