After finishing reading my latest copy of Latitude 38 (a local maritime magazine), I decided to try my luck with surf fishing for ocean perch at my local beach yesterday, October 4th. I didn't catch any fish (alas) but saw a magnificent sunset....even (I think) a green flash.
The upper limb of the sun disappeared at exactly (to my eye) 18:48:07 local time (October 4): or 01-48-07 (October 5) universal time. I had retreated to my car because it was gusting to about 20 knots and the air temperature was 65° F. My car was parked about 35 feet above the sea level. The barometric pressure was 30.5 Hg.
Any guesses as to where I was?
Cheers,
Doug
