    Wooden strip models are great teaching aids Bill.  I used them a lot to demonstrate the value of triangulation in stiffening structures.  I suppose we ought to test the principle before trying to make one.
    Can you alter the angles of the triangle? - yes
    Can you alter the length of the sides? - yes
    Will the sliders slide easiliy into their correct positon along the sides?  - Ah! Friction might be a serious problem.
    Will the springs pull the centre ring into the correct position? - that might need proving.
