This is interesting, but with a modern
turbine-powered aircraft and state of the art electronic navigation systems I'd
say that the odds are probably 99+% of completing the mission safely. I would
have liked it a lot better if they made the flight in the same aircraft that
(the original) Amelia flew (Lockheed Model 10E Electra) and the same navigation
methods (i.e. celestial over water, RDF to locate Howland Island, etc.), though
I suppose getting insurance coverage for a mission like that could be highly
problematic.
