I found a sextant, #2836 at a consignment shop. Intrigued I bought it and upon inspection discovered the Galileo telescope has damage to one end. It is more than cosmetic. The small end which is where the eye piece is attached has a crack at the slit which is used to put tension on the eye piece.
Any one know where I might find a replacement telescope to fit my sextant? Can the metal be repaired? ( suggestions appreciated). While I would like to keep the sextant for it's historical value I would also like to see if it can be used to provide reliable information. I sail a 35 foot sloop and am facinated with the ideas of celestial navigation.
Thanks for your help
