    Temperature effect on sextants
    From: Mark Knudsen

If you had two sextants zeroed out together, and you took a sight with one at its stabilized temperature then took the other sextant at the same time, but it had been setting in the sun soaking up heat, what could you expect in differences in readings and which direction would the hotter one be? Would the heating cause expansion to cause the degree marks to be farther apart or where would the differences be generated from?
