I feel I should add another post script: I wrote “the only skipper able to finish the original race was Robin Knox-Johnston”. My opininion is that Bernard Moitessier was “able” to finish the race. Instead, for personal reasons, he opted not to do so and to continue on a course back to Tahiti.
