So rather than poor seamanship, we have dishonest, manipulative seamanship. The voyage track in the Daily Mail shows a bee-line for Kirabati and the Cook Islands, plus they then turned Northwest for thousands of miles, _after_ having been in radio contact with the Tahitian (U.S.?) Coast Guard! Yuck.
