From the TV news I saw the two women were in a sail boat and the engine quit. I am not a salior but can you not put up the sail and go forward? The pix show a sailboat that still had a mast and standing rigging and some sort of sail still on the boom.
Even if the main sail is ripped is there not other sails? It seems they did not know how to sail. I can't think that there was no wind in the Pacific for two months.
