Hi Kermit,
I was visually thinking about the legs of the 3 sided triangles. A smaller triangle, has less uncertainty in position than a larger triangle. So, I was thinking shorter leg was more certain than longer leg. That's not true assumption if the intercept/azimuth is from an Assumed Position (Pub229 or NA concise table) sight reduction. But, I was thinking this example was DR and Sight Reduction using Law of Cosines. I didn't state that as part of my reason/assumption.
My answer here was a simple visual maybe probabilistic approach. And something, I always wanted to ask the experts.
