You can also use the spreadsheet to answer the following question.
A tiny cocked hat gives you a warm 'fuzzy' feeling because it indicates a small estimated position error. When this estimated position error is used to compute the probability that the cocked hat encloses the true position how does it affect the result?
In the spreadsheet, if you scale all the intercepts by the same value, thereby producing a larger or small cocked hat, the estimated position error, σ cell K12, will change by the same factor but the probability that it encloses the true position, Pr(in) cell R17, is unchanged. This can be demonstrated analytically.
