Hi Frank,
I agree. The best I've found is something like "Found in a 16th century shipwreck indicating continued use after the Vikings" but there is still no direct evidence that the "Sun Stones" were used by Vikings.
Apparently the natural material used in a form of calcite but there are lots of those including "Icelandic Spar" a "transparent rhombohedral calcite, a likely navigational aid - - -." Even Mr. AI heard the rumors. 😳
