Whatever the reason is for putting north at the top of maps, it is a plotting convention that goes back a long ways...two and a half thousand years.

If putting north at the top is part of a conspiracy to devalue those who live in the global south, then like so many conspiracies it runs much deeper than we ever imagined. Those with the eyes to see realize we are all just pawns in the hands of the magi of ancient Babylon.
