Assuming no nav equipment on hand. A lot could be gathered used at a
considerable savings. Sufficient charts would probably run at least
another $1000.00.

Pacific areas and islands you are going to transit require charts.

For $500.00
        In my opinion you can't "navigation wise" adequately prepare for a
        two+ year trip across the Pacific ocean for $500.00. If I had to I
        forgo a SSB radio and use the money on charts, light lists, etc.
        Not using a general coverage reciever for WWV I would use three
        quartz watches. I would rate them before departure and keep them
        below deck as dedicated navigation watches. You use the average
        time after tour departure. NEVER resetting them.

        But here you are up-the-creek for charts.
