Given this discussion of odd sextants and this reference to the Zeppelins, I thought I would share this link to a sextant I recently saw on a Norwegian trading site.
https://www.finn.no/227085061
as in “mint-condition”.The text is vague but says it might have been either from a U båd or a Zeppelin. It's optimistically described. While that Provenance to Zeppelins may be a bit thin, if nothing else, I am curious about that odd circular dial on the index arm. Could that be some sort of level to stimulate a horizon? Or is it just a fine-scale similar in function to a vernier scale?
Looking at a site closer to home, you might be interested in this nice example at what seems to be a reasonable price, compared to normal scandi prices for sextants.

The more curious might want to note that the first price is in Norwegian kroner and the second is in Danish kroner.
If you look through both sites, you can see several other sextants currently on offer. To search in either market places be sure to use the same spelling; Sekstant.
Enjoy. Glen
