I'm an amateur interested in positional astronomy. I've recently discovered that star coordinates shown by the planetarium program Stellarium often disagree with the USNO's MICA program, sometimes by many arcseconds, possibly due to computational shortcuts needed for real-time updates of the screen. I'd like to use Paul S. Herose's Tinyac program to get definitive star coordinates, but I only use Linux. Has anyone installed Tinyac on Linux, using the Mono framework? Or can someone recommend another program that provides apparent positions with sub-arcsecond accuracy, taking account of all the usual factors like height, temperature, pressure?
