Certain people of a certain age decide to do things like building a rowing boat and rowing across the pacific while navigating using the stars. Most of them then think of something else to do. Some of them, though, are Tom Robinson:

Apologies if this is a repeat mention, I'm pretty sure I haven't seen it here. The boat is remarkable, the man is remarkable.

I should add that off-center harbor is a truly magnificent repository of boat-y knowledge. It's also a subscription service, because often things you pay for are not free (like Mr. Reed's remarkable navigation courses, and mobile app!)
