I recently did a survey of calculators in stores like Target, Walmart, Staples, etc., and I was pleased to see that the "Casio fx-260 Solar" is still selling well and usually for less than $10. It was $8.47 (???) at Walmart. That's the calculator I recommend.
I second that. I actually use my TI-30X IIS more because it has multiple memory slots which make sight reduction a breeze, and it has a battery for low-light conditions. But the Casio has one feature that almost trumps those and which I so wish the TI had: the "deg/min/sec" button works without having to use a menu like the TI does. It's a small difference, but when I keep having to pick deg., min. or sec. from a menu it makes me wonder why TI didn't just simplify it like Casio did: just press one button after each numerical entry.
