Yes, I've now done the same thing on a couple of other threads. It looks
like you have to post a brand new message if you use the email interface. I
have always tended to just reply and then change the subject line. What
seems to happen when you do that is the subject of the old thread gets
"hijacked." Then, on the web interface, the new thread appears embedded
under the old messages, but under the new subject heading, even though the
older messages in the original thread are still there. So the old subject
heading disappears from the list of threads.
Amyway, it's easy enough to just start a new message when using the email
interface. You just have to know to do that.
