Dear Colleagues:
I am attaching a rough draft (in both letter and legal size PDFs) of the Mark 2 Navigator's Slide Rule. The differences between the Mark 1 and the Mark 2 are:
- The Mark 2 includes hash marks for the value π on the C and D scales.
- The Mark 2 includes a natural log scale, Ln, on the slide.
- Consequently, the Mark 2 is slightly larger, from bottom to top, than the Mark 1.
Line-placement calculations for π and for e, where e forms the basis for the Ln scale, were done to 9 decimal places.
The objective that stands behind the modifications of the Mark 2 is to be able to do rhumb line calculations. I welcome your observations and suggestions.
Bob
