The rule as I have laid it out is optimized specifically for the Bygrave equations. It does not lend itself equally well, for instance, for use with the Ageton equations, which are intended to do the same thing as Bygrave (i.e. reduce celestial sights) but do so using sines and cosines only, with no use of tangents.
