I had never noticed those gauge points. Looking at some of my slide rules I see that they have them except one K&E 4081-3 that has a "SRT" scale instead of an "ST" scale. I don't understand the difference between these two scales. I have attached a photo of several of these slides. At top is K&E 4080-3 with scale in degrees and minutes and the gauge marks. Second is a K&E 4081-3 in degrees and tenths, SRT scale and no gauge marks. Third is another K&E 4081-3 with ST scale and gauge marks. Bottom is a Pickett N3-ES with ST scale in degrees and tenths and gauge marks.
I have attached the information about the use of these gauge marks from the K&E 4080 manual, 1939 edition.
