What you'd see if you could keep Mercury precisely centered in your FOV of your sextant, for the entire transit! Oh yeah, at a magnification your sextant doesn't come close to!
NASA posted this vastly speeded up transit on Instagram today!

I missed it as I was out at sea. Had my sextant but it was a bit choppy in the North Sea for careful sun observations. On land on Saturday however I could see a clear little black dot on the sun which I could have mistaken for mercury but it did not move and was the wrong day. Never looked at the sun carefully before as too busy getting it to sit on the horizon!
