Center-to-center and geocentric. But it probably doesn't matter. We have no real measure of the Sun-Moon lunar distance from the photo, right? The only clue is the phase. The Moon's phase is given by [1-cos(LD)]/2 where LD is that lunar distance angle (it's amusing to notice that this is the "haversine" of the lunar distance, but this has no real significance --just amusing).
If LD=90.0° the phase is 0.500 (50% full... exactly half moon). If we bump up that distance by one full degree, then the phase rises to 0.509. The difference between 50.0% and 50.9% is not quite observable even with a telescope or an excellent photo. And here, not at all. The difference between 45% and 50% and 55% is observable in the real world without much trouble, and probably even in this photo, and that implies that we can suppose the LD is between 84° and 96°, if I've done it right. :) That's a crude constraint, but maybe enough to decide which hemisphere of the globe we are on. And for a puzzle like this one, that might just be useful (but I don't know).
