Yet, the Vernier scale, mag glass and exquisitely engraved markings are such a marvel. I brought it to work a few months ago. We're optical engineers working in laser systems for medical applications. EVERYONE, as familiar as they are with the Vernier concept and what a second really is, was absolutely wow'ed. I just sat back and smiled, as though I had invented it.
