Wikipedia is a "tertiary source" only as strong as the secondary sources it cites.
In this case the aricle cited (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbidden_City#cite_note-39) is https://web.archive.org/web/20071211101908/https://www.cas.ac.cn/html/Dir/2005/03/02/5202.htm in Chinese, but Google has a go at translating it.
My reading of the article is that 1) It was common to line up buildings to other paces at the time 2) If you look at the map you can find plausible alignments within the precission of the times, but 3) it is inconclusive.
If you come across any more recent articles (maybe by a citation search) let me know and I will consider them for inclusion in the Wikipedia artice.
