    BTW,

Has anyone seen those German films of the U-Boats during World War II in
the North Atlantic pitching and rolling? I start getting seasick just
watching it. I saw one where a German Officer was taking a noon sight on
a sub like that. They may have been the enemy, but they sure had guts.
(It took guts to stand up to them too)

Yes, Das Boot was a great movie in more ways than 1. That scene where
the exec is attempting to take the noon sight was pretty real as far as
    I could see.

On another tack there are some real goofy portrayals of seamanship in
many movies. Most viewers haven't a clue so nothing is subtracted from
the movie. However, there is one WW II naval movie (can't remember the
title) where John Wayne is shown taking a cut with a sextant while
standing on the bridge wing. After the cut is taken he turns the sextant
to its side and looks at the sextant's arc and calls out the lat and
    lon. Pretty funny.
