Thank you Lu. Early reports had the container ship heading in one direction, then doing a 5 mile dog leg, then heading back to where the collision occurred where it remained for almost an hour before the collision. At a reported speed of 16 knots this must have taken a good bit of time. How it remained near one spot at 16 knots (almost zero velocity) without anchoring or turning in circles baffled me.
