    Hi Bob, yes Fu.M.B. = Funkmess-Beobachtung was the passive gear used to detect enemy radar.  The boat carried different sets like Borkum, Naxos and Tunis to cover different frequency bands.  Fu.M.O. = Funkmeßortung was the active Radar. U-1228 carried a Fu.M.O. 61 Hohentwiel radar set.  U-1228 was a late war boat with all the bells and whistles.  Sine the NAVList is about navigation it may be noted that the boat was also equipped with an Elektra-sonne navigation system https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonne_(navigation) This is mentioned on page 37 and several pages thereafter as the boat neared home waters.
